Ex-MEGADETH Guitarist FRIEDMAN To Be Featured In Japanese PLAYBOY
August 7, 2006Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"Marty and Mari Yaguchi ('Morning Musume', 'Tanpopo') chatted in Tokyo this week for a special feature on Marty for the Japanese edition of Playboy magazine.
"To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Roland/Boss, Marty played two songs from [his new solo album] 'Loudspeaker' at an industry-only event in Tokyo.
"Marty and Ayaka Hirahara taped a special double DJ program for NHK Radio (to be broadcast August 10 at 9:10:00 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.) Those of you in Japan can hear their live performance of 'Jupiter' and much more.
"To give you an idea of the music Marty grew up with and inspired him to be the musician he is today, Sony Records Japan will be putting out a special new compilation album of exactly that. More details to follow...
"In TV news, thanks to consistently high ratings, Marty's weekly 'Rock Fujiyama' program has been extended two more seasons, through March 2007."
"Loudspeaker" entered the Japanese national chart at position No. 33. This marks the first Top 40 chart position for any of of Marty's solo albums.
The special first edition of "Loudspeaker" contained one bonus track, a vocal version of "Static Rain", the ending theme of the Japanese TV show "Rock Fujiyama". This edition was limited to the first 10,000 copies, which sold out on the first day of release. After those went, the standard version of "Loudspeaker", which has an instrumental version of "Static Rain", was put on sale.
The lead-off track from "Loudspeaker", "Elixir" has become the new ending theme for the next season of "Rock Fujiyama".
"Loudspeaker" features guest appearances by Steve Vai, John Petrucci (DREAM THEATER),and Billy Sheehan (DAVID LEE ROTH, MR. BIG, TALAS) and is described as "by far [Marty's] most aggressive album yet.
